Because sunlight is falling
through gaps in trees,
flooding this town
with its oblivious love,
I need you to call it
all so obvious.
I need you to tease out
the flatness of living
as I am choking
in dimension.
Tell me that silver
is just shiny gray. Tell me
a kiss is mere gesture.
Now flick some more
ash from that cigarette
onto my outstretched hand.
Thank you.
Though I am drowning,
I know you will save me
by not giving a damn.
